Friends, Wine and Art (My weekend series)

It’s been a lovely weekend with my friend Marianne visiting from Malmö, in the south of Sweden. We had some lovely dinners, went to a wine tasting and even fitted in a photo exhibition. 

Me, Marianne and another friend, Josefin, used to live together in London many years ago. It’s always great when we are together and get to catch up. They were both my bridesmaids at my wedding so we have many great memories together. I love having friendships that it doesn’t matter how long it’s been but you can just pick it up where you left it last. 

Friday evening we started with dinner at my place and caught up with each other. Then we went to a fun wine tasting at a friends house not far from where we live. The theme was France vs Italy. By covering up the bottles we had to guess which wine was from Italy or France. I guessed half of them right so not too bad I guess. 

Saturday was a beautiful, sunny day and we went to Fotografiska. A photography museum right by the water on Södermalm. We started with lunch at their lovely cafe on the top floor with a beautiful view of Stockholm. I had a yummy miso soup with mushroom and Kale. There was some great exhibitions on and contrasting from each other. I enjoyed it a lot. 

Zanele Muholi - Somnyama Ngonyama

Zanele Muholi is a South African visual activist. With her self-portrait series, Somnyama Ngonyama, she brings up questions about social injustice, human rights and race. I found it very powerful. 

Chen Man - Fearless and Fabulous 

Chen Man is one of China’s biggest female fashion photographer. Her photos are bright and colourful. They’re extremely bold and loved the way she portrayed some celebrities in

a way I’ve never seen before. 

We then went home to Josefin who also lives in Stockholm now and cooked dinner and drank some more wine. Josefin made a delicious vegan coconut, sweet potato curry with coconut rice. It was so yummy. We talked about good memories and laughed a lot.
