My Search For A New Green Hair Care Brand

Sunday 26 August 2018

This year I’ve started to look for a new hair care brand. It’s easier said than done. It’s a jungle out there and it keeps coming new green beauty brand and my scalp is very picky.

For a couple of years, I’ve been using John Masters and I’ve been super happy with them. Especially their intensive conditioner with Lavender and avocado. But good things sometimes come to an end. My scalp started to get tired of the shampoos and it didn’t really do the trick anymore and on top of that John Masters kept having some manufacturing mishaps which made me not trust them as much anymore. This started a journey of finding my new favourite brand and this journey is not finished yet. But I wanted to share my journey so far and showing you what I’ve tried so far.

I’ve a very sensitive scalp that easily gets dry and itchy. But I also have a lot of hair that loves moisture. It can be tricky to find the right products.

I’ve tried some one-off products from brands like Akin, Tabitha James Kraan and Sukin. Neither of them impressed me enough to try them further.

I tried a liquorice shampoo from Maria Ã…kerberg. It’s great for dry scalp and dandruff. Maria Ã…kerberg has a huge range of shampoos and conditioner and probably have something for each hair issue. Maria Ã…kerberg’s hair products are good and not too expensive. Also, they lather a lot for being organic. You get a lot for your money. I did enjoy the liquorice scent too but not sure it’s the one.

Mossa recently launched their haircare and I tried the shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo didn’t work for me. But I liked the conditioner as it was moisturising and detangles the hair well.  I think Mossa is a great brand and it’s a budget-friendly brand so if you not too fussy about your shampoo I would say go ahead and try it. They smell lovely too with the scent of strawberry.

Another brand I tried was Rahua. I’ve been meaning to try their products for a long time but the price always made me hesitant. It’s definitely a luxury brand. But I did see why. I liked both the classic shampoo and conditioner. I've been trying a couple of the travel sizes. However, I would like to try their new moisturising range. My hair felt great and moisturised and also smells great. Even after a few days after washing my hair still smells fresh. Rahua is definitely up there fighting for the title.

Chia is a newly discovered brand and I got to try their whole series. I’m using them at the moment and really liking them. They’re moisturising and the hair feels great afterwards. I’m in the middle of testing them and I will talk more about them at another time.

I’m continuing to try a few more brands. It takes time as I only wash my hair every 4-5 days and I want to thoroughly test the products for a few months before I make my mind up.

What is your favourite hair care brand?
