Review | Rahua

Sunday 30 June 2019

It’s been a while since I did a product review. Last year I was on a mission to find a new favourite shampoo and conditioner. You can read about it here. I have done a few reviews of different brands and it’s time for another one.

For a while, I’ve been trying out Rahua. First I ordered travel sizes as they are not on the cheap side. It’s a great way to have a feel for a product before purchasing a big bottle and then ending up not the one for your hair. But I did like Rahua so I ordered the big sizes of the classic range with my LLabp points at Love Lula.

I’ve been loving the shampoo and conditioner and I actually got an extra bottle of the shampoo from Besma at Curiously Conscious as her hair didn’t like it. But that’s life. One shampoo is great for one person but not another so the only way to find out if it works for you is to try it. But here are some things to think about when choosing a good shampoo

Rahua comes from an ancient tradition of women using the oil of the Rahua nut to give them thick, shiny and lustrous hair. For centuries, women from the Quechua-Shuar tribe have combed the Amazon rainforest in search of the Rahua nut. Its restorative oil holds the secret to their thick, flowing and lustrous hair. Unlike other botanical oils that simply coat the hair, Rahua oil has the ability to deeply penetrate, bond and repair the hair’s cortex while smoothing its cuticle.

Rahua makes my hair feel clean and super smooth. I don’t need to use much product at all. It has a gorgeous scent too. I’ve really been enjoying both the Rahua shampoo and conditioner. The only downside I must say is the prize. But I think it’s worth for my hair but also all the great things they do for the rainforest and their workers.

What I love about Rahua is that they’re not only vegan and organic. They're made out of 100% natural ingredients and Rahua created a new cosmetic category that transcends organic and fairtrade, called symbiotic. It means it’s grown wild (not farmed) in the virgin rainforest. According to their website, www.rahua.com they are hand processed through ancestral knowledge and the makers are paid an above fair-trade price to build economies and strengthen the position of the indigenous people. They’re helping them to be guardians and protectors of the rainforest.

The more I read up on Rahua the more I like my products as I’m a huge fan of brands that do good not only for me but also for the environment and the community around them. I don’t mind paying a little bit more if I know the workers are getting paid too.

But if I just going to consider the product in itself I must say it’s definitely a new favourite of mine and it has made my hair looking shiny and healthy. The shampoo lathers and cleans well. the conditioner makes the hair feel smooth and easy to detangle. I love it. I would definitely continue to use both the shampoo and conditioner.

Have you tried Rahua? What're your thoughts?
