How to have your own facial

Sunday, 24 July 2016

I love having my own spa day at home. Today I decided to do my own facial. I feel like I've been neglecting my skin recently. I tend to get lazy in the summer.

I like to do a facial on a day I've been for a run as I've already sweat out lots of toxins.

First of all, I have a steam to open up my pores and unclog oils. I'm using Botanical steam from Southsea bathing hut. It's an aromatic botanical blend of soothing chamomile, deep cleansing lavender, purifying rose and repairing marigold.

After ten minutes I leave my steam and apply a facial mask. I've so many masks at the moment but I pick my Icelandic volcanic clay from SóleyIt's one of my favourites. I mix it with water and it clears my skin and leaves it feeling fresh and clean.

After rinsing off my mask with cool water and a cloth. I spray my rose water toner from Suti. It's lovely and calming for the skin.

I lastly apply my Beauty Boost Skin Restore from Green People. It's a real treat for the skin and a little mini facial by itself. It improves my skin and makes it more radiant. To find out more read my review here.

Having a face mask in the Blue lagoon

Tuesday, 29 December 2015

At the moment I'm enjoying a week in Iceland. It's been amazing so far. Today we went to the Blue lagoon

You can find the Blue Lagoon in a lava field in Grindavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula, on Iceland's south-west coast. A giant bathtub that pools, six million litres of geothermal seawater from 2000 metres beneath the earth's surface. By the time it reaches the lagoon, the mineral- rich milky, Aqua blue water, simmer at temperatures between 37- 40°C.

The water is self-cleansing - it renews itself every 40 hours. The geothermal water has a unique composition, featuring three active ingredients - Silica, Algae & Minerals.

The white Silica mud settles at the bottom of the lagoon and doubles up as a perfect mineral-rich face mask.

        The mud from the Lagoon.

Leave on for 5-10 min and rinse off leaving your skin feeling smooth and soft.

More about Iceland is coming to the blog soon.

Review | Botanicals - Revitalising Mask Rose clay and Rosehip

Friday, 25 September 2015

When I received Botanicals revitalising mask, it was love at first sight. It's such a beautiful jar with my favourite pink coloured label. It's like you want to open it up and eat whatever is inside. Don't do that.

The clay is a kind of red coppery colour. The smell is gorgeous. It's like sitting by a rose bush eating rose hips. Childhood memories right there.

Botanicals organic face range is designed to restore the natural balance of the skin. On the website it explains:

"Soft French rose clay helps draw out impurities and eliminate dead skin cells. While cold-pressed Rosehip and Jojoba, rich in essential fatty acids, leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and visibly brighter."

Botanicals revitalising mask is definitely the most gentle face mask I've ever tried. It doesn't dry my skin out at all. It doesn't make my skin feel tight. It's so gentle I almost forget I have it on.

The mask is designed to nourish the the skin's lower layers whilst slowly drawing out impurities.

I only use a small amount, so it will last for a while. You can either use the clay as it is or mix it with a few drops of flower water in your hands. I tried both and works just as well either way.

After rinsing my skin feels so clean and fresh. I can tell that any impurities and dirt are gone. The skin is still smooth and hasn't dried out at all. I was pleasantly surprised as it's so gentle on, I didn't think it would do much. But it does work and I feel so clean. Even my husband said I looked he didn't recognise me. I don't know if that was an insult to me or a compliment to Botanicals. Maybe both.

Have you tried Botanicals yet?
