Celebrating Midsummer

This weekend was the midsummer weekend. If you know anything about Sweden, you know it's a big deal for the Swedes. 

Most of them travel out to the countryside, eat, drink and dance around the maypole with flowers in their hair. 

I and Stephen went to visit my brother who does live in the countryside. 

I helgen firade vi midsommar. Det är ju som sagt en stor grej här i Sverige. De flesta reser ut till landet, äter, dricker och dansar runt midsommarstången med blommor i håret. 

Jag och Stephen åkte till min bror som bor ute på landet. 

I made a flower crown the day before. This is the only real midsummer tradition I did when I was little. 

Jag gjorde min midsommarkrans dagen innan. Detta är den enda riktiga tradition jag gjorde som barn. 

On the day I wore my denim dress I recently found in a second-hand shop in Stockholm. I was so happy when I found it as I've been looking for a denim dress for so long and it was a perfect fit. My favourite detail is the pockets in the front. I thought it was great to wear on midsummer. 

På dagen hade jag på mig min jeansklänning som jag nyligen hittade i en second hand affär i Stockholm. Jag var så glad när jag hittade den eftersom jag letat efter en jeansklänning så länge och den passade perfekt. Min favoritdetalj är fickorna i fram. Jag tyckte den passade bra för midsommar. 

We played some traditional games of Kubb. A game from the Vikings. 

Vi spelade det traditionsenliga spelet kubb. Ett spel från vikingatiden. 

We mixed in a bit of English culture with some Pimm's. 

Vi blandade in lite engelsk kultur med lite Pimm's. 

In the end, we went to the village celebration to see the raising of the maypole and then danced around it. I could unfortunately not dance as my ankle still hasn't healed since I fell over on my run a few weeks ago. 

I slutet så gick vi till byns midsommarfirande för att de när de firade midsommarstången och sen dansade runt den. Jag kunde tyvärr inte dansa då min fotled inte är helt återställd sen jag ramlade några veckor sen när jag var ute och sprang.

Ethical fashion swap

Last weekend I was in London for few days and got the chance to hang out with Besma from Curiously conscious and we decided to do a collab together. 

Challenge: We had to go to second-hand shops and buy clothes for each other. And we had a budget of £30

Förra helgen var jag i London i några dagar och fick chansen att hänga med Besma från Curiously conscious och vi gjorde en collab tillsammans. 

Utmaning: Vi var tvungna att gå till second hand affärer och köpa kläder till varandra. Vår budget var £30 (lite över 300kr

Shopping for someone else is so much harder than you think. I managed to get some really good bits for Besma for a good price. Most things in Sweden is expensive but thrift shops are still very cheap. To find out what I bought for Besma click here. 

Buying second-hand is a great way to shop ethically and sustainably, as clothes get re-used and give joy to more than one person. 

We used each other's Pinterest's to get some inspiration. 

So I recently starting to get into more colours and a little bit more of a bohemian style. This is what Besma got me. 

Att shoppa åt någon annan är så mycket svårare än man tror. Jag lyckades hitta några fina grejer till Besma för ett bra pris. Det mesta i Sverige är dyrt men många second hands är fortfarande billiga. För att få reda på vad jag köpte till Besma klicka här. 

Att köpa second-hand är ett bra sätt att handla mer etiskt och miljövänligt eftersom kläderna blir återanvända och ger glädje till mer än en person.

Vi använde varandras Pinterest för inspiration. Nyligen har jag börjat gilla mer färger och lite mer Bohemian stil. Detta är vad Besma köpte till mig.

The first outfit was a cute dusty pink cardigan. It's light and flowy and perfect for a summer evening. I love the sleeves on this top. 

Första outfiten var en söt ljusrosa cardigan. Den är lätt och rörlig och perfekt för sommarkvällar. Jag älskar stilen på ärmarna. 

To go with it I also got a lovely colourful necklace. It actually fitted perfectly to the dress I was wearing on the day so I think I'll be wearing this a lot. 

Tillsammans med tröjan fick jag ett fint och färgglatt halsband. Den passade även perfekt till min klänning jag hade på mig den dagen, så kommer nog använda halsbandet ofta. 

  

Lastly, I got a short kimono. I always loved this kind of stuff, so got very excited and loved the colours. 

Till sist fick jag en kort kimono. Jag har alltid älskat kimono stilen, så blev väldigt glad och tycker färgerna är så fina.
